Apparently, you're supposed to look under the hood every once in a while.
You might be surprised by what you find there. (A handful of carpentry nails and three raisins formerly known as grapes, perhaps?)
Or maybe you won't be surprised. Maybe the only thing that will surprise you is how *not* surprised you are.
(Heh. Such is life with small children. I really need to find a better home for my sewing machine than the dining room floor.)
Anyway, it's working much better now. Surgery to remove foreign objects aside, it's amazing what a few drops of oil and a new needle can do. (Speaking of oil, I read that older machines like this one need it every time you use them. Sounds like overkill to me but now I'm all paranoid--does anyone actually do this?)
Next up on the list of neglected items in need of a tune-up: the piano.
One can only imagine what sort of treasures await...I'm guessing a fleet of Matchbox cars and a half-eaten peanutbutter sandwich, but I'll let you know.
