The 7.5-year-old is hosting a small party soon. Her love of mysteries and sleuthing is still going strong. The invitation reads:
..........
Calling all detectives, spies, Nancy Drew fans, and sleuths--your expertise is needed to solve a most perplexing puzzle:
The Case of Olivia's Private Eye Party
Should you choose to accept this mission, you are requested to report to Olivia's home promptly at...
Don't miss this event--it would be a crime...........
We printed the invitations in tiny 4-point font and included a magnifying glass to read them. It doesn't show in the photo very well, but that's Olivia's silhouette on the invite, which I think is a fun detail.
So now we are planning the actual party and I am completely inspired by this one which I just found on the blog My Paper Crane today. The DIY marshmallow guns are particularly awesome. (Though technically-speaking Nancy always use her wits more than weaponry.)
Resource list:
- Mini envelopes from Paper Source
- Magnifying glasses from Rainbow Resource (Note: these are homeschool-grade magnifiers with actual glass, not plastic. I only needed a few and was placing an order for other supplies anyway, so I got them. There are definitely cheaper toy versions to be had at party supply stores, so keep that in mind if you need a larger quantity. But at $1.25 a piece, these are reasonably priced and great quality.)
- Boxes from Etsy (lots of sizes available --I used 3.5 " x 5.5 ")
P.S. Another cute detective invite from Oh Happy Day.
