we made a total of 4 pies last wednesday, the eating of which has become as natural and integral a part of our daily life as breathing and sleeping. pie for breakfast. pie for a party and book club. pie for a mid-afternoon snack. pie as a chaser to a dose of antibiotic, which no matter what they say doesn't *really* taste like grape.
this is the first year involving the girl in the process of the pie making. she has been learning to cook as part of our homeschooling. having just completed a 6-week course on cake (cupcakes, texas sheet cake, icebox cake, grandma k's pound cake, coffee cake, cheesecake), we are now turning our attention to pie, and then up next is candy. it is a rough life, this homeschooling gig, i know.
if you haven't tried my grandmother's recipe for pumpkin chiffon, you really must. it is just that good. light and creamy and unlike any other pumpkin pie you've ever tried. i just recently edited the recipe to make a few things more clear. i hope you'll enjoy it as much as we do.
