i tried several times to put together a post yesterday but found myself distracted as i waited by the phone for news from different corners of my world. not many people wait by the phone these days. or they don't wait by the phone at home i should say. cell phones and other wireless gadgets make it possible for modern human beings to wait for news while conveniently continuing to go about their lives--shopping for groceries, standing in line at the post office, getting their teeth cleaned. not me. i am utterly incapable of that sort of multi-tasking. nope. i do my stewing at home thankyouverymuch. eventually it pays off. there is confirmation of the safe landing of a loved one half a world and several time-zones away. and, yes, finally, news of the much-anticipated arrival of a sweet little bundle of healthy baby girl. ten fingers, ten toes, and (surprise!) a generous amount of dark hair.
i am grateful this morning.
