it wasn't until the auto-focus on my camera broke last spring that i started playing around with blurring photos intentionally. i shoot in manual mode all the time, but it never occurred to me to try focusing manually.
i'm not saying every photo should be blurry. but try it sometime. it will give your photos a dreamy quality.
