i wasn't feeling motivated to cook, so i cleaned out + re-organized my pantry (and kitchen in general) and now i feel much more inspired.
two of the best changes i made:
-installed a spice drawer in the pantry. nothing fancy, just a plastic drawer on a track attached to the shelf with a couple of screws. i've seen photos of bloggers with real pantry drawers and rows and rows of carefully alphabetized spices in pretty matching containers, but this will do for now. i'm just happy not to need a flashlight to find the basil anymore.
-replaced all our old plastic food storage containers with glass ones. such a simple change, but one whose time had come. our plastic stuff was pretty sad and i worried about the health risks associated with food and plastic. glass containers like these (the link is amazon but buy them from costco, they have the same set for $30 instead of $48) can safely go from the fridge to the microwave to the table, which makes them pretty darn convenient. i also like that they have square sides, which are a better use of space than round containers. if i could recommend one change to make in your kitchen, it would be getting rid of all your round plastic storage stuff. it's a waste of space and a pain to store.
what steps towards eating + living well have you taken lately? i'll hopefully have more to share (including recipes) later in the week.
