hi there, super sleuths. anyone still following along? at long last, the final post in the nancy drew party series:
the activity + favors.
[previously: the invitations and disguises]
first up--a real live mystery to solve. or "the case of the secret picnic". prior to the party, k took photos of various (walkable) landmarks around the neighborhood, which we then clipped into mini file folders to create a series of clues for the children to follow. the final clue led them to a small bridge over a walking path where k had stashed a cooler and blanket at the end of a rope. so.much.fun. and, best of all, the weather was perfect.
finally, the party favors. a pencil, classic notebook, and whistle to add to their sleuth kits. i sewed little drawstring bags out of upcycled fabric i had on hand--an old pair of flannel pj pants for the girlier version and a man's shirt for the boy-ish one. (i love saving old clothes for projects like these. some things are just too ragged to donate, so i keep them on hand and recycle them into other things.)
